Darke County Habitat for Humanity is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.
Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - 'sweat equity' - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.
Volunteers are always needed at Darke County Habitat for Humanity. If you are willing to work, we will find something for you to do!
Many people think that construction work is the only work available at our affiliate. Exactly the opposite is true! While we do need construction volunteers, we also need others to help with church relations, volunteer recruitment, fundraising, site selection, and family selection.
The following committees meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ:

If you would like to help, but don't want to join a committee, Darke County Habitat always needs help with the quarterly newsletter, creating the scrapbook, and public speaking/appearances.
If you have a skill that's not listed here, feel free to tell us about it, we might just be able to put you to work.
